Dalmatia is well-known for its beautiful coast and seaside attractions – but there’s more to it! Join us on this amazing tour designed to underline the best dalmatian inland has to offer – from historical, gastronomical and natural standpoint.
The tour starts by visiting Klis Fortress, a medieval fortress situated near Split, which was, due to its strategic position between two mountains, chosen as a royal castle of numerous Croatian dukes and kings and later played a major role in defense of entire Dalmatia from the Ottomans and their invasions. Klis fortress is also known as one of the filming locations of the popular TV show Game of Thrones, in which it was used to portray the fictional city-state Meereen.
Explore the historical sights within the Klis fortress, visit exhibitions of historical weapons and military uniforms or enjoy in the optional guided tour accompanied by a local tour guide from the historical ceremonial unit Kliski uskoci, who will demonstrate military attractions of swordsmanship and archery in which you can also partake in the interactive part of the tour.
Start at 8:00
Duration 7:30 hours
After Klis fortress, the tour takes us to the ethno-agro park Stella Croatica, a recognised producer of traditional Dalmatian hand-made delicacies. Enjoy a guided tour through the production area and beautiful Mediterranean botanical garden, learn about gastronomical legacy of Dalmatia and life of locals throughout the history in the beautiful scenery which evokes the past and tradition of dalmatian villages in the inland. After the tour you will take a break for light lunch in the ethno-agro park during which you will have a chance to taste some of the traditional delicacies such as various types of cheese, olives, dry figs, traditional walnut and almond cake, tapenades and 3 different award winning olive oils. Don’t miss a chance to visit the gift shop where you will have the opportunity to buy some of the traditional dalmatian products such as sweets, cookies, olive oils, liqueurs and jams, all made from natural ingredients and at affordable factory prices.
The tour finishes with the visit to the breathtaking Vranjača cave, one of the most beautiful pearls of the karst landscape which was declared a protected geomorphological natural monument, situated in the base of Mosor mountain. Explore the chambers rich with stalagmites, stalactites, pillars and arcades with a local guide and experience the wonders of this millions of years old natural attraction.
